Founder + Project Manager
Arthur envisions innovative and efficient uses of urban space. He co-founded the VCU Community Garden, a vibrant 3,000 ft2 sustainable edible landscape. Later, finding there was an unused greenhouse at Carver, his team began blueprinting an aquaponic system to supplement student nutrition and scientific education. Applying his background in design and environmental science, Arthur founded Carverponics as a permanent system to provide opportunities for incoming Carver and VCU students for years to come.
Sweeney has a hands-on approach to P.R.. He schedules private tours of the greenhouse and specializes in raising public awareness and access to nutritional foods. With professional experience in water conditioning and treatment, Sweeney applies those skills to treat incoming city water and maintaining the system water quality.
Caroline engages VCU and Carver students during workshops and strengthens the important connection between schools. She is at home getting her hands dirty in the greenhouse with carver students. When facilitating kids transplanting seedlings, feeding fish, and making healthy nutrition choices; Caroline applies her passion for elementary education and sustainability. On the average day you can find Caroline climbing the rock wall, engaging student organizations on campus, and taking care of her succulent garden.
